Homemade Ice Cream

I should be so happy right this minute, I used my whole day for others. First I made them all ice cream, then I watched them eat my ice cream, then I cleaned it all up, and then I brought home what was left just so others would not over indulge – Yes, very selfless. After all that you might say along with Homer, “Why are you so dreary, Grayquill?”
Do you think it could be your fault, Homer? DO YOU THINK? Why did you have to eat 5 bowls of ice cream? This is my body you are affecting – did you forget that?”
Loud sigh. . . “It was home-MADE ice cream!! That's what it's for - eating. Besides, the bowls were so small.”
“Oh, as compared to what… large cooking bowls? Homer my stomach hurts and I am pretty sure my pancreas is working double time trying to balance everything out from your idiocy. “
“Well, I am pretty sure you are exaggerating. I don’t know what you’re so mad about – you made the ice cream, I only ate it.”
“Well, did you think just maybe someone else might have wanted a taste?”
Gee-whiz Grayquill, you better calm down before you have a coronary from all that heavy cream you consumed. Did you forget those six other people who also ate your precious ice cream? Some of them had seconds. Why, was I not allowed seconds?”
“Tap you helmet, it is the fourth and fifth were talking about here.”
“Oh… D’OH! Grayquill’s always picking on me.”
Well who’s to say who ate the ice cream? Maybe the real question is, was that self talk or just an imaginary friend?
You could be the judgmental type, and say some smart-alecky comment about how the ice cream is not the real problem; what we need here is a shrink. And, I would say to that – if you are just now figuring that out maybe you need the shrink. Personally, another bowl of ice cream sounds pretty gosh darn good about now.
You could be the type that says, “Can I have the receipt?” And, I would say in my grumpy mood. Stop being so lazy and go look it up, it’s on page 202 of Betty Crocker.
Maybe you’re the type that says, I don’t see what’s so weird about that – I have several imaginary friends myself. And of course my response to that would be – this was not real, go call a shrink. Then come on over and we will finish off the ice cream.

Oh my gosh I LOVE homemade ice cream!!! How did you make it? With an ice cream maker? I had one of those things, but too hard to use. Had to keep this one part in the freezer...too hard. And by the way, it's neat to watch how you experiment with your posts. Are you a risk taker in real life or just in your blog?

Holly Kay: Risk taker? Maybe more fool than risk taker. I try to evaluate the consequences. The consequences are pretty nill on a blog don't you think?
The Betty Crocker reciept is really good and easy. Give those little ones a Saturday evening treat.
Thank you for your feedback, I highly value it but you already know that. I hope all is well with your newest endeavour. I believe in you

Only 5 bowls? Wow, what self control. You are my new hero. I eat straight from the maker what is left over so there is no counting nor guilt though my pancreas is probably screaming also.

It's been too long since I've had ice cream. If I overindulge, my pancreas remains quiet while my hips scream.

Ice Cream..my favorite food in the entire world. I've been wanting an ice cream maker for quite a while...not it's a 'gotta have'.
I enjoy your writing very much...you have a style of writng that reminds me of Patrick McManus, but it's by no way an imitation... and that's a very high compliment!!

Oh, I love homemade ice cream, I forgot to eat breakfast and now I'm ravenous! But do I want a healthy breakfast? NO! I want homemade ice cream!!! My day just went down the tubes!

Have a great weekend -- you and Homer both!

Arkansas Patti: Eating straight out of the maker – YES! Is your face ever seen without a smile on it? You for sure put a smile on my face. Thanks.

Hilary: I am not touching your comment with a 10 foot pole. When food and women’s hips are in the same sentence the subject is strictly off limits for all men if they know what’s good for them.

Pat: Well, buy the electric ice cream maker; unless you have a gaggle of teenagers running about.
I accept your compliment as very high praise. I am a bit embarrassed my ears are turning red but it sure feels nice. Thank you!

Sylvia: You are funny! I hope you are having a great weekend too. – Your blog is a bright spot in a sea of negativity - it reminds me of a street market – you never know what you might find but it is always good.

Hey there Grayquill! Thanks for the nice comments today.

I love all that internal conversation between Grayquill and Homer LOL! You guys are kinda rough on each other! It's just ice cream. Anyway, if it's homemade it don't really have any calories in it. That what my inner voices tell me anyway!

That was quite a conversation between you and homer. Ice cream does sounds good.

I would have given into the temptation GQ and had lots . Home made ice cream is real good. I mean you can make it less sugary or use a sugar substitue and skim milk.

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde...We all have a little bit of both inside each of us, don't we? One guy may be stronger than the other, hence determining whether we are good or bad on a daily basis.

Loved your post to pieces. You have a very interesting thought process which comes out beautifully in words! :)

Gosh, I hate when I can't spell!

Grayquill & Homer,
Ice cream, YUMMY!! John bought an ice cream maker and is completely obsessed!! He bought a container to put the ice cream in and of course it's a tad smaller, so he MUST eat out of the container so none gets wasted!
I tried to leave a comment on your volleyball post, but it's not there. Thank you for the link it gave me a good chuckle before I went to sleep! Poor Kate is all I can say. I am sure your daughter has forgiven you. I am a Daddy's girl and let me tell you - even after some of the embarrassing things my dad did, that man still hangs the sun for me every morning!

Debra: You have given me great comfort – denial is a great tool one needs to keep in his tool box. I started to dig deep into the recess to find it and there it was right on top. I am good to go.

The Survivor: Betty Crocker page 202 all you need is a few items.

Amrita: Hmmm…. I actually thought about that when I was making up this last batch, then I thought, that is way too risky. So I then added extra sugar – It was awesome.

Ashley: I checked out your blog – it is going to be fun. You are off to a great start.
Thank you for the compliment! Now the word interesting could mean several things. One way could be, it is a good interesting and we could be friends, then the other way might not be so good and you are glad you are a least a continent away.

Michele: I thought it only fair to warn poor Kate what hazards might be in store. Your husband I am liking more and more. A fisherman and ice cream finisher – what a good man.

@Grayquill

Thanks for your kind words on my blog. Much appreciated. :)

And LOL. I meant interesting-different interesting, sad that we are a continent apart but we could still be friends. :)

You actually made me go to the kitchen and have my share of ice cream, and relished it even though its not the same as that of Grayquills home made ice cream. And about imaginary friends... I had some for real...but not anymore, and I call them imaginary...they were there just a phase of my life...and turned against me later. Memories about them are painful, so I made them goblins and vampires in my great story book of Life.

Grayquill said...

Anita: Sorry for taking so long to comment back - you comment snuck past me. Your comments continue to prick my curiosity. Is your story book a real book or something else? I hope the goblins are gone forever. Blessings
